Towcester Farmers Market is held on the 2nd Friday of the month from 9.00am until 1.30pm in the Richmond Road Car park and is managed by the Towcester & District Lions Club.
When the club took over the running of the market in April 2005, it committed itself to using all the profits made to support the local community. The Lions have been able to donate around £3000 annually from the market to such local causes as the Towcester Door to Door Scheme, South Northants Care & Repair, McMillan Nurses, CRUISE Bereavement Care, Towcester Diabetes Support, Towcester Youth Coffee Shop, Young Carers and many more.
At a typical market you'll find a range of quality stalls selling fresh organic vegetables, fruit/apple juice, locally reared beef, lamb, pork, game, fresh fish and poultry. Freshly baked bread, cheese, free range eggs, savoury pies, quiches, ready-made meals, locally baked cakes plus a range of preserves, pickles and sauces. There are organic and gluten free options.
Here you can meet and talk to the producers who have grown, reared or made the food you are buying and be confident about the quality.
There are "guest stalls", recent traders included fudge, curry sauces, coffee beans, olive oils and Satay chicken.
Richmond Road is located close to the town centre just off Watling Street - the main A5 through Towcester. There is ample free parking at the adjoining Waitrose supermarket.
